The Ultimate Guide to Skincare for Climbers

Introduction

Welcome to this tutorial on skincare. As climbers, we all know that priming can be rough on our skin. But having good skin is important for our climbing performance and overall health. That’s why we’re here to show you everything we know about skincare and how we like to feed our skin.

The Tools of the Trade

We use two main products for our skincare routine: Anti Hydro and an electric file. We never do this in public because it might look a little feminine, but trust us, it really works! And no, we’re not paid to say this – these are not sponsored products.

Anti Hydro

Anti Hydro is a lifesaver. We just put a little dot on each finger and spread it out to both hands. We try to avoid the cracks and only get the tips of each finger. We apply it once or twice a month (max) and go to sleep with it on. The next morning, we wash it off and our skin is good to go!

Electric File

We use an electric file to get the cracks and sides of the fingers, even around the nails. This helps the skin heal faster than if we did nothing. You can also use a normal file if you prefer.

Different Types of Skin Issues

We’ll show you a few different examples of skin issues and how to treat them:

  • Evenly worn-out skin: This looks pretty nice except for the bloody parts in the middle. We use the same technique as when our skin is good and focus on the sides and maybe the cracks above it.
  • Flapper: Cut away the dead skin and use climb bond or time skin spade once it starts to heal.
  • Flaky skin: Sandpaper all the flakes off and use a climb bond to prevent dryness.
  • Split or crack: Sandpaper the whole thing so there’s less skin around the crack and use climb bond before a rest day.

Conclusion

We hope this was useful and helps you achieve healthy, smooth skin for your climbing adventures! Remember to do your research and find the skincare routine that works best for you. Happy climbing!
